Recreation Assistant



POSITION SUMMARY:


The Therapeutic Recreation Assistant assists in carrying out the individual therapeutic recreation plans established for the residents by the certified staff in order to meet each resident?s needs. Functions cooperatively in an interdisciplinary team effort. Assists the Director in planning, organizing, developing and directing operation of the department in accordance with established policies and procedures.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION


???????? Must have a minimum of a two-year Associate?s degree in Human Services, or equivalent work experience and background preferably with geriatric populations.???


???????? Must have State of Connecticut certification or be enrolled and actively attending a therapeutic academic program.


???????? Must have a valid driver?s license in order to operate the transportation Van used for patients.

COMPETENCIES


???????? Must have general understanding of geriatric populations and the aging process, as well as leadership skills in the area of recreation and leisure activities.?


???????? One year of full-time experience in a therapeutic recreation department within a health care facility is strongly preferred.


???????? Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally in English and work well with people, particularly geriatric and rehabilitative residents.


???????? Must possess and maintain a valid driver?s license (appropriate as outlined in the Eastern Connecticut Health Network?s Environment of Care Safety Policies and Procedures #110) maintain a driving record free of any violations and pass a safe driving educational program upon hire and annually thereafter.

10.?? Knocks prior to entering resident rooms.


11.?? Maintains clean driving record for van.


12.?? Follows van operation policies and procedures.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
